When planning to visit the beautiful island of Siquijor in the Philippines, the range of places to stay is actually not that big. Most of the hotels and resorts are located either on the southern or northern coast of the island and range from low-class hostels and guesthouses to higher-end resorts and hotels.
When we traveled to the island we decided to stay at the Coco Grove Beach Resort.
The Coco Grove Beach Resort is located on the south-western coast of the island directly along a long stretch of fine-sanded beach named the Tubod Beach. The beach as such if very beautiful and invites for nice beach walks during the day and offers a great sunset in the evenings. Swimming is also possible even though you cannot really enjoy it as much since the corals and stones make it a bit uneasy. Yet, you can go snorkeling right in front of the resort as it actually is a marine sanctuary. The entire facility is very nicely decorated with many plants and flowers and a lot of coconut trees (watch out for falling coconuts!). Find out more about what the island has to offer on our blog post on what to see on Siquijor Island!
The surrounding area does not have much to offer (shops or restaurants), so it really is a perfect place to just relax and enjoy the beach.
The resort itself is very nice and offers a vast choice of different types of rooms, restaurants, pools and activities. The room choices range from standard and superior rooms to executive rooms and family villas. It offers 3 different restaurants and 3 swimming pools. It has a fully equipped diving center with diving courses and offers different water sports, outdoor activities, wellness facilities and tours.
We enjoyed staying at the beach and the pool area as it was very relaxing. Eventually, we also did a day tour to Apo Island which is very recommendable. Between November and May you also have the possibility of going whale shark and whale watching.

Between 3,000 and 8,700 Pesos (€60 to €170 per night)
In summary, we give 4 out of 5 for this accommodation.
The Coco Grove Beach Resort is beautifully located and offers a great retreat to relax and have a good time. The rooms are nice and clean and offer all the necessary amenities. The restaurants have good food and also offer smaller events such as barbecue parties and live music in the evenings. The pools and beach area invite to stay and the extra activities are fun. On top, the staff is very friendly and is very caring.
The downside would be the fact that you cannot really swim at the beach due to the corals. I really enjoy doing so and this was unfortunate that I couldn’t. Internet availability was also not the best.
The resort is one of the most expensive on the island and it almost reaches that standard. In total I would yet highly recommend this accommodation when visiting Siquijor Island.
