When planning a city trip the most important aspects to take into consideration when finding a good place to stay are the location and the price. Lisbon has quite a few hotels and hostels to offer, so it was not that easy to find a place to stay. We read a few reviews and did a bit of research and eventually found a great place where to stay in Lisbon named Travellers House Lisbon.
The Location
The hostel is perfectly located in the heart of Lisbon. It is settled directly on the famous Rua Augusta, which is a main pedestrian road connecting the two main squares of the city. The famous Grand Augusta Arch is just a few meters away with the ocean front just down the square.
The different neighborhoods of Alfama, Barrio Alto, Chiado and Rossio are just a few minutes walk away. In terms of visiting the city’s attractions and areas of interest the location of the Travellers House is fantastic!
The Hostel
The hostel is simply great! It has a very nice charm and is far away from being a mass-unit cheap hostel. It has a very modern and clean decoration with few antique touches. It offers private en-suite rooms (where we stayed in) as well as dormitories with up to 6 beds. The room offerings are quite flexible, really suiting every kind of traveler. The rooms are very clean and in style, with high ceilings and polished hardwood floors.
There is a very welcoming entry area with some nice couches and places to chill as well as a small kitchen and lounge section equipped with a flat-screen TV with free movies. What was great was that there was also a free breakfast included – you can chose between three types each morning, very decent and a great way to start each day!
The staff was very friendly and offered all kinds of support. They organized different events every day related to the local culture such as food and wine tastings and also walking tours.
So if you are looking for where to stay in Lisbon – this might just be the place for you.
Price
Between €25 and €70, depending on room category and season.
Apenoni’s Rating
In summary I give 5 out of 5 for this accommodation.
The Travellers House Lisbon is a very well located and beautifully designed place to stay when planning to discover the city. You are just a few minutes walk away from most of the interesting places. The rooms are very nice and clean and the hang-out area is a great place to relax and meet fellow-minded travelers. A big plus is the included breakfast. Also, the hostel staff is very kind and gave us lots of interesting advice about what to see and do in the city.
Definitely a recommendable place to stay for your trip to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon!
Depending on the season the rooms facing the main street can be a bit louder in the evenings. Also be sure not to get a room right next to the bathrooms as this can be loud as well.
