When deciding on where to stay in Kata beach, Phuket we chose the Kata Orient House, also known as BaanNueng@Kata.
The hotel is around a 45-minute ride away from Phuket International Airport. It is situated in a side road in Kata and takes you round 5 minutes of walking to get to the beach. Other beaches such as Karon (5 minute drive) or Patong beach (15 minute drive) can easily be reached. There are many different restaurants, bars and massage parlors along the same road. Right across the street there is a 7-11 store which makes it easy to get minors shopping done.
The entire hotel offers 33 rooms to stay in, making it a good medium-sized facility. The rooms come with either fans or air-conditioning and are all located around the swimming pool. They all have private bathrooms, a TV and a minibar. There also is a small restaurant which offers food throughout the day.
The Kata Orient House was a good place to stay in.
Cleanliness: The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Internet: The internet connection was very good and available throughout the entire hotel. You had to get separate logins if you were using the internet with more devices. A bit annoying but no real problem actually – staff was fast at providing these.
Value for Money: The value for money is good. Prices for a standard, air-conditioned double-room are between 20 and 30 Euro / Night, depending on the time you go.
The pool was a great refreshment after a day at the beach. The area was rather quiet as it is a bit away from the street. Rooms were spacious and had all the necessary amenities. There was no safe in our room but the staff locked away our valuables in another larger safe with a sign-in and sign-out paper which was very professional.
I would recommend others to stay in BaanNueng@Kata when visiting this area of Phuket.
