Laos is an incredibly beautiful and fascinating country. We were absolutely amazed by its stunning natural landscapes of jungles, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and caves. Combined with a fascinating Buddhist culture and some delicious food it is definitely a must-see destination for any kind of traveler.
We started our trip in the South at the 4,000 islands of the Mekong called Don Dhet and Don Kong. These islands are famous for their laid-back and relaxed atmosphere and offer some beautiful riverside scenery. It is pretty much all about drinking beer, eating happy-pizza and lying in the hammock which makes it a great start before the real adventure begins.
Laos is one of our favorite countries in South-East Asia!
You will also come across the two motorcycle loops of Pakse and Tha Khaek. Here you can rent your bike and enjoy some nice rides through the great landscapes of the Champasak and Khammuan Provinces – home to some of the most breathtaking waterfalls and largest caves in the world.
Further up North you will find the bustling capital of Vientiane, the party-capital and backpacker mecca of Vang Vieng and the romantic and enchanting town of Luang Prabang, the spiritual heart of Laos.
Alongside with these great destinations you will find Laotian food to be very delicious. Banana pancakes, sticky rice, chicken and fish curries and fresh salads make this cuisine very enticing. And you just cant miss out of the famous Beerlao – probably one of the most delicious beers in all of Asia!
All these things have made us love our stay in Laos and we would definitely recommend anyone to visit this country!
